Reconstruction and additions of the shopping hall.

The economic requirements of maximizing retail space in the urban centre motivated the radical “dissembling” of the building to its structural marrow: masonry pillars and concrete surfaces. The addition to the atrium adds to the commercially available space. The interior bears the terraces of the subtle tectonic relations of the steel frame, while the façade is a next ended glass wall a surface that at various angles is transformed into a mirror of the life

of the street, or a gigantic display case. Behind this window, the original building becomes the primary object of exhibition. With its roof terrace, the courtyard structure replaces the open space of the atrium; only available for the building’s inhabitants, it is reached via a delicate staircase tower.
