The opening in the wall presents a classical expressive means within architecture. It is the eye of the house, the frame of the image of the landscape outside. The exterior concrete wall forms a solid frame, an ascetic box; while inside it the space between the two atria pulsates in full freedom. At the centre of the southwestern common atrium, divided from the living room by a glass wall, blazes a comforting hearth.
Facing it are the rooms for children and guests. Oriented towards the intimate northern atrium are a relaxing bathroom and the parents’ bedroom. A selection of hard and soft materials allows for tension between forms and dramatizes the articulation of social, intimate, and functional units of the house.
