SMÍCHOV TERMINAL
The idea of the multimodal Smíchov Terminal was conceived in connection with the planning of the conversion of the Smíchov Karg into a new urban district and the related transformation of the Knížecí area into a square, the modification of Nádražní, Dobříšská and Radlická Streets and the footbridge over the railway track. The Knížecí space is to be freed from the current bus station by transferring this function over the Smíchov railway tracks to a new platform following the level of the termination of the new Smíchov City boulevard. Smíchov Station will thus be transformed into the most comprehensive multimodal terminal in the Czech Republic. In addition to the existing underground subway, trams, buses, taxis, bicycles in the parterre of Nádražní Street, the existing track on the first floor, there will be an additional layer with suburban and long-distance bus transport. Moreover, this new layer will solve one of the fatal problems of this part of Smíchov, which is the lack of transverse east-west traffic links by bridging the Prague ring road and the railway and connecting Radlickou and Dobříšská and Křížová streets with Nádražní Street. This will substantially increase the range and flexibility of traffic services and the permeability of this part of the city for pedestrians and cyclists. The layering of transport media on top of each other will also significantly shorten and make transfers between them more comfortable, which is the main prerequisite for making public transport more attractive for its users.
